That would be great. did you get the doodle poll below, trying to sort a date. k
Have voted 2nd Feb but happy to do 3rd or 8th Feb also
Yes, thank you. I voted for Feb 8th. I am away the other two days before the long weekend.
@Kate, yes - can manage any of those times at present.
HI All,
I would also be keen to join in on a discussion/forum. Iām currently working as a Systems Clinician with interRAI NZ.
I can do both the 3rd and 8th February.
Alex
Iām keen to join in the conversation as well, currently working a clinical technology lead. Was looking at doing some papers this year. I have voted but if I cant attend would it be possible to receive any info from the meeting?
@m.honey wold be great to have your thoughts as well. do fill in the meeting time suggestion poll.
This backwards approach has been used for a long time. Happened to me a long time ago too when a change management and project role was designed for my skills (including bridging roles) about 20 years ago. In the absence of a useful career pathway tool, itāll continue happening this way for a long time yet.
Would be great to have you on line for the meeting your experience would be invaluable.
Iāll try and attend. Many nurses find they follow opportunities as they arise in their setting, rather than have a clear career path. Education/courses can be helpful to prepare you for opportunities as it is often the skills and experience you bring that gets you into informatics roles. Yes, I do understand that isnāt helpful when youāre starting out
Agree @m.honey. Iām writing a Marsden funding application to do research on career pathways for health informaticians. Because there are so many entry points into an informatics role and so many different journeys that can be taken, I am to come up with some ways to help people design a career.

Thanks Kate. Iāve indicated the first date but am available for all the dates (the poll only lets you choose one option).
great conversation. I think this i what is needed.
The poll will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday 16th) at 5pm.
On Wednesday we will post a calendar invite and zoom meeting link in this channel. Please feel free to distribute to whoever you think may be interested in joining this discussion.
The meeting will be facilitated by Kate Yeo with myself supporting her. It will include introductions as well as a general discussion about nursing entering health informatics as a career with hopefully some action points as a result of the meeting. The HiNZ NMI group as well as anyone else, can work together to achieve any action points over the year. One of the action points will probably be to set up a sub-group to explore this topic further!
For those that canāt make it, we will record the meeting and post the link in this channel.
Looking forward to the discussion!
Emma Collins
I can do 14th Feb as Wednesday to Friday, I work as Practice nurse so will not be able to get away. Happy to follow the recorded session.
Arshi
Sorry I missed this - I have āupgradedā it so that it does allow multiple entries now but is likely a bit too little too late!
If you are feeling brave, you can use zui.nz/NursesandHI (yes, it can easily record) and simply upgrade this topic to an event. That way youāll capture all those already in the thread (they are Watching it already automatically) and anyone who likes can download it into their calendars with a simple button.
To this end Iāve made Arshiās post up top a wiki so anyone can add that once a date has been sorted.
Soon weāll have a way for that to be automatically integrated with peopleās calendars (if they wish).
Let me know if you need a hand!
Kia ora koutou
We will have this discussion on Thursday 2nd Feb, 12-1330hrs, as per the poll above.
Calendar invite to come
If anyone outside this forum needs an outlook link, please let me know their email address.
