What tools are we using across the sector for asset tracking (physical location)? Anything from wheel chairs to medical equipment.

Was talking to CCDHB about this last week. Talked to them about a trial of tile trackers ( https://www.thetileapp.com/en-us/ ) to have a think about how they might be useful

Interesting to know what the life of the tile would be, could go through a lot of tiles in a couple of years.

Yep purely to test and see what the use cases might be before investing more than $100

Thanks, yes Tiles can be a great option especially in an area of mass use, as I believe they rely on a phone being nearby in order to rely their location to others? Or they may be freestanding now. A while ago I had a passing conversation with https://www.centrak.com/ that offer a wide range of solutions depending on the use case. We would be very keen to do a trial either with someone like Centrak or Tile. I believe CCDHB are already tracking IV Pumps, not sure if they are using Tile for this or something else.

The other aspect that we are interested in exploring is if there is any opportunity for this to be a part of our BIMS strategy, since we have a powerful and rich platform for facilities layout and fitting, could this somehow be extended to also include assets that may move vs. being fixed parts of the building.

Have you had a chat to the NAMP people (they are collecting BIM data for the country) or Richard Harrison (Health Alliance), he is thinking about medical devices and how to track them.

Kia ora Jon, if you’re interested we’re part way through developing a tag that doesn’t only rely on just bluetooth, mobile or GPS. We’re also developing an AI backend - let me know if you’d like to chat.

Interesting idea Robyn sounds like a chat would be useful. Jon

I’ve tried these Eileen and there were a few issues that I discovered. One was reach (bluetooth) and the other was (yes you’re right) life of the tracker and not being able to determine when it wasn’t sending a signal whether it was because the battery was flat, the tile had failed, or it was out of ‘reach’.

Not healthcare but British AIrways has introduced RFID/bluetooth baggage tags to keep track of where a person’s luggage is within the baggage handling process.
