Good to see an honest discussion on trust and challenges in healthcare AI being covered for a general audience. Important points on bias, autonomy and need to have “guard rails” for new technology like chatgpt for healthcare, highlighting issues of misinformation and lack of accuracy at this stage (popular topic also during the C3.0 Summit today).
I totally agree, @amyc, and it’s good to see in Aotearoa that we are starting with such governance in health thanks to @jon_herries and @robyn.whittaker. However, the whole ethics of ML/AI debate remains only a part of a wider debate on the ethics of algorithms. I found this paper (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00146-021-01154-8) was accessible and balanced. You and others may be interested.
