As you probably recall, the Irish HSE cyber attack preceded our Waikato cyber security incident by a few weeks and the two had several similarities.

The report by PWC analyses it, highlights some key ongoing concerns, and tells much of the story. This BBC article gives a good lay overview:

MY guess is someone quietly paid the ransom!
