I have recently read “The Art of Business Value” by Mark Schwartz - it’s a really readable discussion on the definition and measurement of business value - and what it means for ICT and in particular Agile. I’d definitely recommend the book, but a good very brief summary can be found at:
The ‘value of bureaucracy’ was an interesting point - there is deeper meaning in the annoying structures that sometimes hamper us and we would be wise to critically listen. And then keep the gold while throwing out whatever is obsolete.
Also that ‘agile’ doesn’t necessarily mean wise or clever. You can do dumb stuff in an agile fashion! There is plenty of space for thinking outside the box, putting yourself in other’s shoes, and being humble.
