James Allison has been appointed Director ICT. As part of this role James will help to develop a culture of connectedness and continuous improvement for systems and services across the motu that enable our health colleagues to deliver better care. He is currently interim Regional Data and Digital Lead Te Waipounamu, and prior to that was Chief Digital Officer for Waitaha Canterbury and Te Tai o Poutini West Coast. James has a proven track record of operational stability, programme delivery, and commercial stewardship and an impressive background in digital leadership roles in both corporate and healthcare settings.
@darren.douglass has been appointed Director Strategy and Investment. Darren will provide strategic thought leadership to support the development of Te Whatu Ora data and digital strategies and roadmaps, leveraging business partnership arrangements. He is currently GM Digital Strategy and Investment at Te Whatu Ora and was previously Group Manager Digital Strategy and Investment at Manatū Hauora Ministry of Health. Darren has a wealth of experience of strategic leadership, investment portfolio management and digital service delivery within the health sector both here and in the UK.
@michael.dreyer has been appointed Director Sector Digital Channels. In this role Michael will provide leadership, delivery and support of sector digital channels, including health consumer and whānau products, and population health and collaboration platforms and services. Michael is currently General Manager of National Digital Services and Chief Technology Officer at Te Whatu Ora and prior to that held the same role at Manatū Hauora. He is a seasoned leader dedicated to delivering digital solutions for the betterment of New Zealanders.
@lara has been appointed Chief Clinical Informatics Officer. As part of this role Lara will provide clinical direction into the development and delivery of clinical informatics strategy, products and services across the health sector. A Specialist Anaesthetist, Lara was formerly Clinical Advisor to Digital Innovation at the former Waitemata District Health Board, where she was engaged in multiple regional projects including electronic orders, regional repositories for results and documents, and eReferrals with a focus on eCommunication between primary and secondary care.
George Smith has been appointed General Manager Business Support. In his new role George will lead board sub-committee and governance processes, along with our reporting, decision support, and managing the integration points with other directorates and enabling functions. George joins us from the Northern region shared data and digital service, healthAlliance, where he was GM of Corporate Services. In that role, he supported governance and board processes, managed the region’s IS oversight groups, and led strategy, planning and performance, risk, audit, privacy, communications, and facilities functions.
