Interesting that screening questionnaires/quizes can be effective. A question this leads me to is whether the person finds out their “diagnosis” at home.
Just noticed this @jon_herries . There was discussion on this at MedInfo last year. One school of thought was that providing reliable and trust worthy sources of information alongside a diagnosis, in a variety of circumstances, and the support of families at home made this less scary that we think. Also, the individual may be more able to engage after the initial emotional reaction at home and thus an appointment with a HCP was more productive for them. The OpenNotes movement had a bit to say about it too.
Very interesting perspective. I wonder if this opens up the opportunity for more people to self test and receive similar diagnoses at home? I imagine some people would feel a lot more comfortable in their home environment with family for support but would require the follow up support to be provided fairly quickly.
