Just seen a live demo of support for SMART Health Cards in the next version of iOS (15 due for release in Sept). These include those created using the HL7 FHIR Vaccination Credential Initiative Profiles… http://build.fhir.org/ig/dvci/vaccine-credential-ig/branches/main/
In the QR Code rendering, there is a maximum of 1195 characters, so only the system and code for Vaccinations are included and, although 5 Code Systems are currently supported in the IG, the iOS beta can only lookup and display descriptions for CVX Codes (handy for NZ!).
Without wishing to ‘pick a winner’ in the COVID-19 vaccination credentialing race, this (VCI) initiative looks extremely promising as it’s supported by ‘big tech’ (inc. Microsoft & Salesforce) and the largest EHR Vendors (Epic, Cerner, etc.)
Furthermore, the standard isn’t restricted to just vaccination data.
