I’m interested in hearing from NZ-based health providers who are using robotic cleaners. At Summerset, we have deployed them in two of our villages. The ones we use operate on a 3hr clean / 3 hr charge time, 24/7. They take themselves back to their charging station and soon, will have lift integration to travel between floors (but still can’t open a door).
I’m keen to hear from others and learn about their set-ups!
Hi Craig,
I’m not aware of the use of robotic cleaners within HNZ but I am interested in this area. Can you please share what model robots you are using and if you are finding the investment stacks up?
We are using a model called The Phantas from Gausium Robotics. They are ideal for large, open areas and corridors. The Phantas vacuums carpet and wet mops/scrubs hard floors. Depending on the cleaning mode and speed (e.g. slower moving / deeper clean), they can clean 350-600 ㎡/h, so slightly faster than a human. The mapping function means they never miss an area. If they had to go around a person/obstacle, it’ll remember and go back to the area. Still early days, but they are proving to be a good investment due to their consistency in cleaning, coverage reports and other advantages over having a human clean large, open plan spaces, carrying around loud/heavy backpack vacuums, dealing with chemicals.
Their height makes them useful for cleaning around furniture and people, but not under chairs, tables or in very small/tight spaces. They’re not super quiet either (60 db - but that helps with alerting people to its presence). Their collision avoidance and ability to verbally warn approaching people to stand back is proving useful!
There’s another commercial grade cleaner we know of called CC1 from PUDU Robotics.
