The next national CiLN meeting is on the afternoon of 5 May 2020 at Shed 6 in Wellington. This is a great opportunity to connect with clinical informaticians from around New Zealand.
It is a free event, more details to come soon.

This poll is managing our registration, and will provide the list of attendees and who haven’t told us yet.
We will provide this in some way, but it will probably be up the “minimal viable product” end of the spectrum however (ie Zoom via a laptop) but we’ll see what we can do.
@KarenDay is likely to be able to help - she is a wiz at accommodating students from afar in her teaching sessions. Or maybe @Ruth_Large with her amazing telemedicine wizardry?
Could be good if the “Minimum viable product” included the ability to submit questions etc from the distant site. Ideally a mobile microphone for the Wellington site to allow Wellington based questions and comments to be heard as well. (I’ve had the frustration of sitting on the distant end of video linked meetings with sub-optimal audio quality more than once!)
In case you’ve come across this and don’t already know, this CiLN meeting is on the afternoon prior to the HiNZ Innovations in Digital Health conference also in Wellington:
OK so now the May HiNZ conference is cancelled, we need to decide what is happening with the CiLN meeting. It seems to me options are:
Cancel the meeting altogether.
Continue with a virtual digital meeting
Continue with in-person meeting.
I suggest we plan for option 2. and make the focus on what informatics can do for the COVID response. The Discourse discussion threads are a good starting point.
As pointed out in the disucssion threads, one thing IT needs to be doing now in response to COVID -19 is to help connect people without relying on an in-person presence (workplace remote access, video conference links etc). Planning for a virtual conference meeting in itself would be a worthwhile learning exercise. If anyone can do this we should be able to!
We have a CiLN advisory panel meeting tomorrow and will make a plan for the mid-year event.
I doubt that continuing with the in-person meeting will be a viable option given emerging travel restrictions and the increased workload we are all under with COVID-19 responses across the health sector.
