Waikato Hospital is running a six-month trial of the award-winning Emergency Q app, which has reduced emergency department patient volumes at Auckland’s North Shore Hospital by 12 per cent.
The software also seems to be able to reduce patient frustration and negative behaviour sometimes directed at front line staff, as the user has a visualisation of wait times, and the app offers a basic triage service by asking the nature of the condition the patient is seeking treatment for.
