Our next Technology Advice document in the pipeline is ‘Remote Patient Monitoring for Older People’, with a focus on Aging in Place (staying at home for longer).
I am looking for examples of what’s currently happening in New Zealand - companies, organisations, DHBs, researchers etc who are utilising and/or providing research in this space.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Mary, I’m sure you know about the trial in Northern Victoria reported in the last couple of weeks in Pulse+IT? The Trial is remote monitoring for chronic disease - the
Murray Primary Health Network (PHN) and two local primary care partnerships are supporting a pilot study looking at the use of wearable devices linked to a smartphone app to help reduce avoidable hospital admissions. The study is using a range of devices from iHealth connected to an app from HealthBeats, which are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Propell Health, to see if patients can better manage their health from home.
Eligible patients include those who have been admitted to hospital or presented at an emergency department in the last six months for the relevant condition.
Using Propell’s iHealth wireless devices, patients will take their own blood pressure, glucose levels, pulse rate and weight readings. Bluetooth technology then connects the iHealth device to the HealthBeats app and uploads the data.
The HealthBeats app displays real-time health summary trends and allows alerts to be set for missed and abnormal readings.

Thanks @Rochelle_Style, I did see that article. Exactly the sort of example I’m looking for. Cheers!
