We’re co-hosting an intimate event in Auckland - an NFT/blockchain 101 + focused on applying this technology in the health and wellbeing space
This really doesn’t seem like an event that is doing much beyond promoting NFTs and blockchain itself, is it really appropriate to promote it here?
Of the three listed speaking groups, 2 are merely providing the standard mix and match generated images as NFTs. As has been discussed here before these do nothing of value at all and the emissions overhead really isn’t outweighed by a supposed 15% donation to charities.

Note, the line isn’t even going up anymore, NFT marketplaces are seeing prices crash drastically as they start to run out of suckers.
CENNZnet appears to just be a grab bag of Web3 buzzwords without a central value proposition, they are one of a large web of companies with similar websites and “team members”. Their offering appears to be a parallel blockchain to perform “smart contracts” including a touted feature of NFT Drops.
Together I would strongly suggest that anyone considering attending this event or getting involved in similar enterprises reconsider to avoid getting involved in an unregulated industry that is out for its own interests rather than improving healthcare.
It’s not promoting NFTs and blockchain - it’s a panel discussion exploring their application in the health sector, and educating those who are interested in understanding this technology further within the health sector.
CENNZnet is a well respected company within the tech startup community - please don’t be disrespectful. I note that someone said these speakers are scammers - as a host, I can attest that NONE of the speakers are scammers. One of the speakers is the CEO of a well regarded and well known blockchain company, another is a tech educator for the Māori community, and the final one is a clinician at Auckland hospital.
I think it’s important to have open and robust conversations about the applications, and development of new technologies, but perhaps we can avoid shutting ideas down quickly without giving people the opportunity to uncover their full capacity - especially those who are actually developing the technologies and living and breathing them, rather than reading up on things online. I can assure you, our speakers are NOT out for their own interests, and we as hosts would encourage open-mindedness, curiosity, and trust from attendees. These people are volunteering their valuable time, without any expectations…
