Kia ora,
Diabetes nurses already spend up to four hours per day replying to messages from their patients, so have to prioritise care for those already engaged with their services. Our service utilises a clinically validated text messaging diabetes self-management program (https://doi.org/10.1111/dme.14182) to educate, motivate and engage with patients potentially slipping through the cracks of the health system. The service also triages patient messages to the nurses, directing patients to their diabetes device companies for tech support, enabling nurses to focus on patient care. The nurses are able to see a report of these conversations to help tailor care plans, reducing work-flow interruptions.
I am working with LEAPS (for more information see https://leaps.nz/) to discover what clinics would want from a service like this and to engage with decision makers around technology implementation.
If you are in the general practice space, diabetes domain, or work with technology implementation/integration I would love to speak with you.
Cheers,
Jake
