Very pleased to announce the following:

Secondment opportunities now open: Centre for Digital Modernisation of Health

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora staff are invited to apply for a range of secondment opportunities through to December 2026 with the Centre for Digital Modernisation of Health.

The centre plays a key role in delivering the Health Digital Investment Plan (HDIP) - turning national digital priorities into practical action that strengthens New Zealand’s health system and supports better outcomes for patients and clinicians.

More secondment opportunities are coming soon and will be advertised on the careers section of the Health NZ website as they become available.

Current secondment opportunities. The following roles are now open:

All roles link to the careers section of the Health NZ website and are open to current Health NZ staff on a fixed‑term secondment basis. The centre’s intranet page also includes FAQs and further information about how the Centre works, its leadership team, and how staff can get involved.

Please note - these CID roles are fixed-term and the funding for them will come from the Centre for the Digital Modernisation of Health. We expect to announce a fourth role shortly, also fixed-term, as backfill within the current CID team. Because of different funding, this fourth position does not have to be a secondment and will be available to applicants outside of Health NZ as well. All CID roles, regardless of funding, will be part of the national CI team and will have opportunities to work both in current CI capacities as well in programmes in the Centre. It’s a great chance to be part of all this exciting work!

As mentioned above, the backfill fourth role mentioned above is now live:

Clinical Informatics Director - 12 Month Fixed -Term | All Locations | Health New Zealand

The roles have the same Position Description and the same opportunity/expectation to work across both current Digital Services projects and future Centre projects; the difference is the funding source. You do not need to apply to both. This backfill role is available to anyone, while the above roles are only for HNZ staff for secondment. Please note that the cutoff date for applications has been changed to the 15th of March. Feel free to post any questions here or message me.
