Making some posts on the eHealth forum public - work in progress

Great post, Ben. I wonder if you are somewhat preaching to the converted, and that this might be better for a wider audience. Would you be open to it being published where it would show up in a Google search, etc? It would look something like a Blog.

We can do that in the eHealth Forum using a Discourse feature called ‘Page Publishing’:

P.S.

We could also provide a Blog type experience with public reach if anyone is interested in getting their message to a wider field than LinkedIn can muster.

Hi Nathan - fine by me.

I have been using this forum as a way to collate some tools which I have been then dispersing to different audiences that are relevant to me - e.g. the Contact Tracing Reserves, all the Physiotherapy New Zealand Members in Northland etc. If have just been copying to email or using whatever platform a group is on. But if you can create a blog out of this I can drop a link to it.

Or if it pops up on Google for someone - great.

Let me know what I need to do next.

Cheers, Ben.

No need to do anything. The two pages are published here:

https://ehealthforum.nz/pub/covid-19-tools-locations-of-interest-maps

I did a minor edit so that the link in one of the published pages goes to the other one. Also added a little breadcrumb down the bottom.

This is a bit experimental so let me know what you think.

@Ben_Gray - here is where we discussed making things public. I’ve moved it here to make it easier to find.

If my life wasn’t so nuts right now I’d set up a public category for the eHealth Forum to house your posts and any others that people wanted to have ‘out there’. It isn’t that hard to do, but requires a bit of cultural change and care.

Also, that way we could have all four of your posts together in a single thread and public. It is usually a good idea with online forums to minimise the number of discrete topics where possible.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether it would be helpful to have a public channel or not?

Okay team, things have settled down over the holiday period and I’ve created a potentially public Category - blog. However, this is currently a trial.

The intent is that anything posted there will one day be visible on the wider internet without needing the user to be logged in. This means that the links can be shared easily and it can pop up in a Google search.

Once live, suitable topics will only be moved there (and thus published on the internet) with the express consent of all involved in the topic. New Topics require moderator approval.

Please go and take a look - and let us know what you think about this concept.

P.S.

thanks to @Ben_Gray and @derek.b for their feedback and suggestions.
