Let's Talk Digital Conference 2025 (hybrid 2 day conference in the UK)

This looks like the standout gathering in the UK Digital Health scene this year. It is very much a grass-roots event, with absolute emphasis on real world ‘raw’ digital health - without getting bogged down in bureaucracy or being sidelined by commercial interests.

A rare hybrid event, it costs £65 (NZ$150). The timing is, of course, horrific. But I think it will still be worth it. I happen to be on night shift, so this will hopefully be sweet as for me!

If enough people indicate they are interested, we’ll set up a NZ-specific (or maybe ANZAC) collaboration space to chat etc during it.

Thanks Nathan,

Next week, the Let’s Talk Digital Conference opens its virtual and physical doors to a community of thinkers, makers, and doers reshaping the future of healthcare. From AI ethics to clinical efficiency hacks, our video posters (“vosters”) showcase how ideas - large and small - are transforming the way we work, learn, and care.

This year’s lineup proves that innovation can spark from any corner of the system:

- Nabeel Ashfaque Sheikh turns “sign-in fatigue” into a story of empowerment, showing how one clinician with a few lines of JavaScript saved hours of wasted time.

- Márjory Da Costa-Abreu reimagines AI literacy as a liberation movement, teaching citizens to question - not just consume - technology.

- Muhammad Hamza Qadri and Rumman Javed put large language models on clinical trial, asking if GPT-5 could one day be the new pocketbook of medicine.

- Hannah Clemmens and Márjory Da Costa-Abreu reveal how the South Yorkshire Digital Health Hub is cultivating a new generation of innovators and open-source educators.

- Hannah Clemmens and colleagues push boundaries again with Smart-Health, building the UK’s first longitudinal dataset linking smartphone, wearable and NHS data to understand health in real time.

- Roddy McRae unveils ConneQt, the quietly powerful toolbar simplifying NHS interoperability for clinicians and developers alike.

- Raman Sharma applies machine learning to neonatal care, predicting when preterm babies can go home - and giving parents something priceless: hope.

- Charlsea Maynard, Ravinath Kannangara and Sobath Premaratne explore how virtual reality can ease pain and anxiety during procedures, making compassion digital.

- And Ravinath Kannangara returns with an audacious idea - using AI to triage vascular referrals, freeing clinicians for the work only humans can do.

Together, these stories show what happens when clinicians, coders, and researchers stop waiting for change and start building it.
