Re-Introducing TIGER: Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform.
TIGER is part of HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society - US) with a global volunteer support group, bringing together “diverse perspectives and encourages varying viewpoints, facilitated through a respectful exchange of ideas among all individuals to support HIMSS initiatives’ goals”. While TIGER has been around for some time formally known as the ‘Global TIGER International Taskforce”, The group has undertaken some changes and realignment this year to be known as the HIMSS TIGER Global Community, with approximately 60 members representing 34 countries worldwide, including New Zealand.
The role of this group and its members is to:
- Actively engage in the TIGER community to provide insights from community members’ geographic and academic environments.
- Serve as subject matter experts in interprofessional health informatics and contribute to the knowledge exchange through providing insights to HIMSS committees and communities to align and support their efforts.
- Collectively create and disseminate academic, evidence-based topic specific material to support the HIMSS committees and communities
TIGER group members from around the world come together to discuss and support health informatics initiatives globally. In the past TIGER has published a number of useful articles which may be of interest to members.

Micro-credential projects deliver for Māori and Pacific populations
The team at HiNZ have been busy developing microcredentials in digital health, commencing with a project which targets Māori and Pacific populations. The idea of a microcredential is to transfer knowledge and skills into something that will have impact. This is an incredible initiative and we are looking forward to seeing where HiNZ are taking this.
For more information, you can read this article in eHealth News and learn more from this webinar with HiNZ CEO @timc Tim Corbett.
