HiNZ NMI Group Meeting

Once a year we aim to meet face to face. This year we were hosted by Carey Campbell and the team at Orion. Thank you Orion for the wonderful hospitality.

Orion

Strategy and Planning workshop, 20 May 2024

It was an absolute pleasure hosting the dedicated team of nurses and midwives who lead the HiNZ Nursing & Midwifery Special Interest Group at Orion Health’s Auckland office. This annual ‘in person’ workshop was invaluable for advancing our current workplan, strategizing for the future and setting the scene for the Nursing & Midwifery extravaganza being held in December as part of Digital Health Week.

A huge thanks to the HiNZ team and Board for supporting us and for CEO Tim Corbett his invaluable contribution during our very productive session after lunch. HiNZ is in very capable hands, and we look forward to new initiatives coming up soon.

We are actively forging new relationships while cementing existing ones with nursing and midwifery professional organisations across the motu. This endeavour is crucial in promoting and solidifying our professions’ leadership in digital health at every level. Our focus is set on our upcoming workshop on Tuesday 3rd December in Hamilton titled “Amplifying the nursing & midwifery voice in digital health”.

Stay tuned for more details, and don’t forget to register now! We also encourage you to seriously consider submitting an abstract to present on the day.

Get ready for an unforgettable event - it’s going to be a blast!!!

This article discusses virtual health care in the Primary Care context. It used semi-structured interviews with RN’s and Nurse Practitioners, and thematic analysis, to explore what is compassionate care and how this can be delivered through virtual healthcare. The results showed that there is work to be done in this area.

Interesting Listen

This podcast was initially delivered at Rewired - a Digital health event in the UK.
The session explored how digital is being approached from different areas of the community in the UK, including adult social care, GP, district nursing and primary care. The panellists highlight the main areas of the discussion in Birmingham that resonated with them and their key takeaways, before explaining how work from a national perspective will support the increase of CNIOs in community settings, of which there are only six currently. The trio then discuss the benefits of digital nursing networks, and each give their take on what is next in terms of leading and driving change in community nursing.
