Hard to find my way around

I thought I should let you know about the issues I have been having with the ehealth forum.
this is mostly on the presumption that if I’m having them, others will be too.

This arose recently while trying to post a group personal message, but it’s something I’ve had frustrations with previously.

I’m finding that when I log in direct to the forum, I get a bunch of info that I don’t want, and find it very hard to get to anywhere I DO want to be. Even searching for things like “CILN advisory group” and “High level stakeholder engagement” don’t let me get to a place where I can see any of the discussions (and yes, it says I’m logged in).

I can get to discussions by following a link in an email… unless I’m working from home, in what case nothing happens, presumably because the default browser for my DHB citrix desktop is still IE (!)

So - general rant about fact that searchability is hard on the e-health forum, and that personalizing feeds could be better. Is this something others have noted, or something which you are able to improve?

Sorry to hear that it was confusing, Mat! That is the opposite of what we are going for. But we really rely on feedback like yours to know that there is a problem, as when you are deep in the IT you become profoundly blind to such things.

Is it the categories on the left that are the problem? Or the list of topics on the right? Or maybe that the whole thing is just too busy?

I’ve got a good alternative layout that could work better, which will de-emphasise and simplify the categories, while making it clear where you are. Maybe we should give it a trial.

For the moment, I’ve switched out the Invite Others link in the top right for a My Groups one to make that easier to find. Both are also under the ‘Hamburger’ menu image.

I think that you might have been trying to be too specific - i.e. you typed in too much. The search here in Discourse is smart, but it isn’t Google. If you typed a bit slower you might have seen this:

or this:

I’m afraid that IE was left behind by Discourse a good 2 years ago (good riddance)
