The Minister said health infrastructure has been neglected for decades and the government is investigating creating a separate Health Infrastructure Entity under Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, to manage and deliver physical and digital assets.
This is an interesting thing for the Minister to say; it certainly has been neglected, more due to poor national co-ordination than anything else (one of the many things consolidating into Health NZ was hoped to fix).
But a separate Health Infrastructure Entity? With the experience of Health Alliance and TAS behind us, we should be wary of creating another silo / structure that is likely to cause more problems than it solves.
