Interesting podcaste @martin.wilson @mValentine. Martin, I agree with your final words and believe that many of us are not driven by the accolades - but by that deep down feeling that you have achieved something. Often the acolades are directed (quite correctly) at those who can better promote the work to larger audiences and who often worked in exec support to promote the product - their work is important too.

I’m not sure about wearing my HealthOne tee shirt to my grave - but I might take a copy of an email I received from @nigelmillarnz when I resigned from CDHB with me!

Just listened to it - brilliant! I love having ready availability of podcasts of our local digital health heroes for car trips without kids. I really struggle to ever catch up on webinars I miss.

I really resonated with Martin’s journey, and how one must sacrifice time, money, and clinical sharpness in order to make any way in this sector as a clinician (certainly as a doctor). And that the rewards are very much intrinsic - it is all about satisfying a deep desire for true altruism.

HiNZ Fellows

I really do wonder how the eHealth Forum can best serve our @hinz-fellows. Their accumulated knowledge and wisdom is taonga - a true asset to be shared. Any thoughts / suggestions welcome.

Really enjoyable listening and Martin’s closing comments also resonated with me. From a technology viewpoint, healthcare is probably one of the least well paid sectors in which to work (at least in NZ) - but, in my experience, by far the most rewarding from any other perspective. It’s also a sector where domain knowledge is critical and hence the importance for this growing informatics community to engage with the implementation community where, as a generalization, I still believe there are large gaps in that knowledge. HealthOne is very lucky to have someone like Martin on their team, similarly Cure8/Sovereignty Network with Matt.
