I am unsure if this is the correct place for this Standards and Interoperability topic relating to Enterprise Architecture - EA
I have had some useful exchanges via the Grok page on X website (previously Twitter).
Please look for referances to GeoffCardwell for information on what 6P Health Systems try to achieve. I believe there is a lack of visible EA in many Health NZ documents. It would be good to see simplified versions of healthcare EA diagrams so that we can all, not just clinicians, understand how the systems should operate. The Grok pages have useful info on EA but their diagram suggestions are rather confusing.
Hopefully there are some eHealth Forum readers who will contribute to this discussion?
I checked the responses from the Grok pages and apologise for any confusion! Please see
Thank you for your comments on my 6P Health Systems and I hope we can improve the EA!
Hi Geoff,
I think you’re barking up the wrong tree with Grok… EA is well structured, human thought-out stuff. If you want an overview Wikipedia is much more likely to get you to what you need. Your 6P systems quote looks like a response to an LLM prompt “Write me a sentence about my company with as much alliteration using the letter P as possible”.
My confusion remains.
Keith
Hi Keith,
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I will look into Wikipedia to see how they handle the EA aspects of organisation structures.
I was interested to note that the last 3 issues of eHealth Forum articles are about IT organisation developments and the sharing of IT standards.
My first experiences with Grok were quite rewarding when the fast responses included EA components using TOGAF and other similar structures.
Perhaps we could share some of our own relevant experiences and we could hopefully clarify any confusing issues around IT developments.
Kind regards
Geoff
Hi again Geoff,
Sorry if I was a bit flippant. I’m sure LLMs (which are now replacing traditional “search” at pace) can find references to EA resources. But I would always recommend reading the source texts, or some reputable person’s summary of them.
TOGAF is a very comprehensive process document for modelling and creating a new enterprise, especially one that depends on technology. I was a minor contributor in using TOGAF along with my former DSTC colleagues, when founding the Australian National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) in the mid-2000s, with the goal of creating shared patient-controlled health records across Australia (among other e-health goals). I’m not sure if TOGAF is copyright free, and may need to be purchased (or loaned from someone who’s licenced it, or looked up in a Library that has a licence).
For a technology focussed Enterprise Design, the Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP - rm-odp.net) “Enterprise Language” provides a reference model for modelling an Enterprise for use in the technology focussed Viewpoints of RM-ODP: https://rm-odp-new.lcc.uma.es/files/X.911-2014.pdf – I use RM-ODP as a set of thinking tools for approaching most technology issues that intend to solve Enterprise problems.
best regards,
K

Hi Keith
Thank you for your comments on using TOGAF. Please see my first NZOQ 2P paper at
Please check my 4 Essentials paper from my earlier efforts on QA systems:
Please review my 2007 paper on EA where I tried to model the IT systems.
We need to Simplify and Standardise our healthcare IT systems where possible!!
I look forward to your comments with specific feedback on healthcare issues.
Thanks again and kind regards
