Apologies if you received a small flurry of eHealth Forum emails today.
The reason was that the outgoing SMTP port (how emails are sent) was blocked by digitalocean.com, our online hosting provider. This was being blocked for new servers (which I knew about), but they seem to have applied it to ours this week for some reason.
It was an easy fix, and the backlogged email sent as a big bunch.
How much email should we be sending?
We’ve been slowly reducing the amount of email traffic generated by the eHealth Forum by default over the past year, and with HiNZ now owning the eHealth Forum are keen to extend this even further.
We do this by changing the default settings - i.e. what happens before you personalise your notifications. It doesn’t affect anything that has been set by any user, and anyone can change their email and notification settings at any stage. See these for more info:
