Well, any strategy other than deep cuts to digital health projects and staff is likely to improve things. Sigh.
True prioritisation and investment are the things that are needed, rather than rhetoric. But I guess we have to keep making plans until the political winds start blowing in a more favourable direction. May that be soon.
This bill proposes a health infrastructure committee, appointed by the minister, to advise the Board of Health New Zealand and has various provisions around ‘measurement’ and planning, but it does not mention ICT specifically. Does anyone, apart from me, think it should? I can’t see how health can be delivered safely without reliable connectivity, interoperability, security, etc.
