Clinical Informatics Leadership Network webpage and networking event

Hi all,

I would love to get your feedback on this new page on eHealthNews.nz for the Clinical Informatics Leadership Network, created as a way to share news and features relevant to the group, as well as give it a public face. https://www.ehealthnews.nz/clinical-informatics-leadership-net

You can also register for the next CILN networking event by clicking on the right-hand banner ad or via this link: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4850505/Clinical-Informatics-Leadership-Network-CILN

Thanks

G’day Rebecca, As a newbie, when I clicked on the link, I wasn’t sure whether this network was for a face-to-face meeting, or an ongoing network that supports discussions, etc. I’m still not sure what the purpose of the network is (is it advocacy, discussion forum?). So, maybe the page needs a paragraph about what the network is, purpose, background when it was created, who to contact to find out more, what membership criteria is? Finally, it seems like joining means become paying member of HiNZ? Is this correct? At present, I have not become paying member yet as have plethora of other memberships, so just working through value-for-money. I think I will probably join as an individual in due course, but a bit apprehensive about more emails that I simply delete due to lack of time to digest. Would be keen for more clarity on purpose of network. I do thinks this digital health network platform is good though . . as ‘for interested people’, and no associated cost (really grateful for whomever is supporting the cost/admin of this!). Maybe, HiNZ membership would mean access to this platform, if this platform isn’t sustainable long-term, for free?? (Might be incentive for me, for instance, to join HiNZ)?? My 2 cents, Emily (rural GP)

Hi Emily,
Thanks so much for your thoughts. The network was first created at a meeting in Wellington before HiNZ in 2018 and a group of interested members are continuing to develop it by organising events and signing people up to this online forum.

In terms of exactly what the network is etc, this needs to be discussed and agreed upon at the May networking event as while there was good discussion in November, no formal decision was made. To that end, we’re working on a draft ‘mission statement’ that can be debated at the meeting and once that’s ready, we will post it online here as well. This information can then be added to the public CILN page.

You you don’t need to be a HiNZ member to join the network or to attend events, but HiNZ is kindly supporting development of this network for clinicians.

More information on all of this will be posted online as soon as possible and I’m sure there will be interesting discussions to be had at the next national meeting in May.

Thanks
Rebecca

Thanks for this information Rebecca. Could you please give us (again) the details of the meeting in May? I know it’s part of the Emerging
Tech in Health symposium in Christchurch…not sure of date and time.

Regards

Karen

Hi Karen,

If you go to the CILN page https://www.ehealthnews.nz/clinical-informatics-leadership-net you’ll see a banner ad at the top right which has all the information about the event and if you click on it, you can register to attend.
It’s 20 May, 12.30-4.30 followed by a social event, held at Rydges Latimer Christchurch.
Thanks

Thanks Rebecca! Sorry I’ve been a bit inundated and only catching this thread now. We are really wanting to connect clinicians with an IT interest together and this next in person meeting is about forming a more formal structure. However one thing we are all agreed on is that regardless of structure the connectivity with each other is really important. If you can’t make ChCh don’t worry, send us your ideas anyway and we will continue to work on connecting and growing this group. I’m also always happy to take a call or email. :grinning:

Spaces are limited for the CILN networking event on 20 May in Christchurch, the day before ETIH. If you want to attend please fill in this survey https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4850505/Clinical-Informatics-Leadership-Network-CILN
Thanks

I think having a page that focusses on clinical leadership is good. How do we move sideways and grab the attention of the non-ehealthnews subscriber? As ever the already motivated are in the tent. Maybe when we are more certain of how we are driving clinical leadership, we might promote / share some content with NZ Doctor via a ‘limited access’ portal. THis might also attract even more to HINZ and give Kim more work to do!
