Being in the cloud doesn't protect you from ransomware attacks!

Unfortunately it is a myth that moving to the cloud (e.g. Microsoft 365) will mean that your data is safe.

Slightly shocking is the number of IT professionals who think it does!

I do take your point. The but is having your data in the cloud is better than having your data on an unbacked computer on your desk. The but is having your data locked up behind security means that the information and knowledge contained within are not available to encourage flourishing and relieve suffering. At the moment, privacy is becoming the new face of colonialism.

I would read this article as advocating for the need to ensure that the security you pay for is right to meet your critical needs and the predominant threat axis along with having a proportionate BCP process. Assumptions are never good in security or risk management.

Still a good find and jog to remind us to be active, not passive in this space.
