Become one of our recognised standards experts

In 2021, a few of us managed to convince Standards NZ to form an Aotearoa subgroup of the ISO technical committee for health informatics. You can read about the resulting ISO/TC 215 NZ here.
The group’s purpose is to give Standards NZ a voice in the development of ISO standards for digital health and health information technology. ISO/TC 215 publishes over 200 standards, each reviewed every five years, with a busy programme of new development. Current work includes a second edition of bestseller the International Patient Summary (IPS), you may have heard of.
The standards cover an enormous range, from technical standards for medical device interoperability to workforce standards, data governance, ethics and so on. We can always opt out of commenting or voting on any question but like to contribute where we can. Either we’ll have expertise on the group or we’ll phone a friend.
If it sounds like an interesting use of your spare and volunteer hours to be one of our friends or even to join the group, please message me. The next step is nomination to the Standards Approval Board, the statutory body that approves the experts and makes appointments to committees.
