Just a quick reminder for everyone that engagement on forums is increased by the use of a ‘head-shot’ avatar - it definitely makes your profile seem more ‘human’ and involved in the forum.
About Me - tell other users about you and your experience, role, job, and non-work activities - this is displayed on your User Card (shown when you click on your avatar elsewhere in the forum)

You can even ‘Feature’ a topic which you are proud of!
In fairness to all, I do understand the ugliness of that phrase ‘head shot’ (to mean a photograph of head + shoulders). I cringe to hear it and write it, but used it here simply because that is what is always referred to, for example at conferences of you’re a speaker.
Yup, you replied via email to a topic notification in the Discourse Tips category of the Digital Health Networks. It isn’t public per se (only logged in members of the DHN can see it), but it is not a private communication. We can do personal messages here in the networks (which are typically delivered via email too), and they do look similar. We have considered making it more obvious in the past, and perhaps we need to address this now.
@pacharanero - I’ve provisionally downgraded the ‘watching’ status on this Category to 'watching first post), as it seems to be filling up peoples inboxes unnecessarily.
It is an awesome Theme component that you have authored my friend! It would indeed solve half the problem. We still have to further modify the email notifications so they are clearer. That would be an ideal addition to your component if it can send its tentacles so as to customise text in other bits of Discourse. Perhaps you’d be interested in taking this on as a little project for us?
BTW I think the profile pictures are great @pacharanero . As you say they can help make the experience more personal and friendly.
It’s also useful for when we meet up again hopefully at the conferences and summer school etc. I’ve picked up on conversations with some people at those, who I wouldn’t have known without having seen them on their profile pic.
A quick tip for users, the Discourse forum allows you to use the Gravatar service. This allows you to use a profile pic for any forum where you have registered your email address .
We have suggested use of a NHS Gravatar like service for staff and patients before in other threads. This is a useful way to see how this type of service can work.
