The HiNZ Networking Event in Auckland is on 19th November at 5.00pm. We would love to see you at the Empire Tavern from 3.30 pm onwards for a bit of CiLN networking to warm you up for the main act.
The Tavern is at 137 Victoria Street West, Auckland (a short walk away from HiNZ event’s venue).
CiLN Advisory Panel members will be there and look forward to discussing what you see us achieving in 2021, as well as getting some feedback from you on the new CiLN ToR.
I’d love to participate again, in your inspiring mahi space, unfortunately the “pedal is to the metal” at this time of year.
I look forward to your 2021 Digital Health week, and will continue to push interoperability and CiLN kōrero with Alan Davis & Nick Chamberlain from NDHB, plus Linda Joe and Alistair Shum from PGNZ, and whomever is carrying the flag for PSNZ, plus the Mahitahi Hauora IT lead (with Kim Wickham having left, sorry I’m not sure who that is now)

Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately I’m already booked in Wellington that day so won’t be able to attend. I look forward to more connection and discussion in 2021.
Thanks to everyone who came to CiLN Connect Auckland on Thursday, it was great to see so many people there and have a really interesting discussion. I took these notes, so hopefully @NathanK and the Christchurch crew can discuss some of these ideas further.
Please feel free to add ideas in the thread below @KarenDay@SamuelWong@elf@MValentine@GPaterson@Sharonrussell@vanessaselak
CiLN Connect Auckland – notes
CiLN members and Advisory Panel members are all busy people and this is a volunteer organisation, therefore it needs to concentrate effort on a few key achievable goals in 2021.
Focus on workforce
There is an ‘invisible workforce’ in digital health and we can’t expect people to continue doing this in their free time.
How can change happen at DHB level? One idea is to target middle management who can sometimes act as a blocker, particularly to getting clinical time released to focus on data and digital. How do we reach them and what are we trying to communicate to them?
This invisible workforce needs support, this can be signalled via strategy, which is through the MoH.
Ensure CiLN voice is heard in the new Transition Unit and a focus on clinical informatics is part of the transformation of the health system. Also need more formal/ regular communication with other directorates within the Ministry.
What should this formal communication look like? Ie how often, via what channels, who from CiLN will do this and how can we ensure they are speaking on behalf of the network?
ToRs need to clarify communication channels into key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health
How can the network help to create these channels of communication?
As DHBs are reorganized how ensure budgets can be assigned for digital training, literacy and work on IT projects?
Shayne Hunter suggested a hui to talk about these issues and how to work together on them going forward, who can help organise this?
