Approving people on the eHealth Forum (for Moderators)

Overview

Our @moderators will get a little red image in the first section of their sidebar from time to time (turns back to grey once you’ve clicked on it once).

This is usually to approve a new member to the HiNZ eHealth Forum. Occasionally it might be a post that someone has flagged as being inappropriate or a post requiring moderator approval.

It is vital that we respond to these promptly. If we are sluggish, the system will remind all moderators after 24hrs

Approvals for new members

New applicants will typically fall into one of these three categories:

Clearly appropriate

Please approve anyone who:

  1. has a genuine interest and/or connection to digital health in Aotearoa NZ
  2. is a human representing themselves (i.e. not a ‘company’ or an idea)

Inappropriate

If they are clearly a spammer then Delete and Block User

If they are obviously inappropriate or have been sketchy about filling in the application then please delete their account and :ballot_box_with_check: Send rejection email. You can optionally add a specific note explaining why using the text box provided. This sends them an email with this text:

I’m afraid that we have declined your request to join the eHealth Forum.

As a trust-based community, we expect people to represent themselves (i.e. not a company) and to openly share their personal details with us. We also expect a genuine interest and/or connection to digital health in Aotearoa NZ.

You are welcome to re-apply with the above in mind. You may also contact us via admins@ehealthforum.nz to discuss this if you wish.

The eHealth Forum Moderating Team

Unclear

Those in the grey zone. They might be a clinician or consumer without an obvious IT interest, an IT professional outside of health, or someone with a genuine interest but who lives overseas.

Do err on the side of approving them, but it would be helpful to follow up your approval with a personal message to the new user; please also copy in @moderators to keep the team in the loop.

Don’t be too worried about stuffing it up. If a punter really wants to be a part of it, they will apply again (with a better reason) or email the admins. And if they prove to be a rogue we can easily block them.
