Working with MBIE on “Health Technology” and the potential for this in New Zealand. One of the suggestions is to use existing data held by Stats and MBIE around exports. Interested what people think are the right codes we should include, we have:
ANZSIC
C 1841 Human Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Product Manufacturing
C 2412 Medical and Surgical Equipment Manufacturing
M 6910 Scientific Research Services
But realise this doesn’t include a bunch of stuff. Interested in your ideas/thoughts? Note: health service delivery itself is the Q category (wondering if/how we might influence the coding system…).
Found this on Stats website - is from 2006… Have had a go at searching our the ones which probably fit (search text for “bio”, “med”, and “pharm” and then an eyeball of those thrown up - may well have missed some stuff.
Hey Jon, thanks for this! Wondering if there is worth in having a code for health/medical/wellbeing software applications? That would catch a lot of health technology projects currently not covered in those codes.
Yeah would be a good idea. The codes are owned by Stats and the name suggests it hasn’t been updated since 2006… Also presumably they need the Australians to align. Will try a cross-reference on “job titles” to see whether I am missing any obvious categories.
