Time Toxicity in Healthcare - A Real-World Example | Out-Of-Pocket

A good reminder for people working in healthcare, that for people out there staying well/becoming well when you have a long term condition takes a lot of time and effort.

Interesting article; ongoing mental heath treatment for chronic diagnoses is an area that likewise requires part-time levels of management.

As a support person in the past for others, and myself, this is compounded by a social welfare system so paperwork heavy (regular medical reviews from winz for sickness allowance payments and overly punitive restrictions on what you can earn, more so if you happen to be a parent/guardian for children)… the whole system needs better integration… and thats not touching on the Health system side of just getting an appointment with a team of Drs that can diagnose, provide appropriate treatment, and then hand over to A good GP that not only believes that the condition is real and doesnt second guess the Dx… ranting continues

yeah, I can relate.

I would tautoko that.

The only rider I would put on it is that she makes a comment that she was a nurse navigator and admits she knows how the system works (when talking about clinic bookings) which presumably then underestimates the time and effort required.

As she also says these are direct time costs - not the consequent (ie. to others) efforts required.
