Dear colleagues,

You’re invited to join a new regular group meeting for those interested in the field of “Digital Health”. Digital health is all about using digital technologies to improve healthcare and encompasses health/clinical informatics, telehealth, wearable technologies, health data science, robotics, virtual reality, e-learning, artificial intelligence, mHealth apps, and more.

The meetings will aim to have a few short (10-minute) presentations each month to learn about all the digital health projects going on across the university, the hospital, and the local healthcare community with some time for discussion and networking.

The monthly group meetings will take place from 5-7pm in the “Barnett Lecture Theatre” at the Otago Medical School with refreshments/light dinner provided.

The agenda for the first meeting on 2021-11-23T11:00:00Z will be:

  • 5.00 pm: Welcome and introductions by Prof Rathan Subramaniam
  • 5.10 pm: @chris.paton: The new postgraduate digital health programme
  • 5.20 pm: @lance.elder: Digital health planning for the new Dunedin Hospital
  • 5.30 pm: @Ruth_Large: The NZ Telehealth Forum (via Zoom)
  • 5.40 pm: @Tania: The ethical challenges of digital health
  • 5.50 pm: @NathanK: The Clinical Informatics Leadership Network (CiLN)
  • 6.00-7.00 pm: Discussion and planning for future group meetings and activities

RSVP

If you would like to join the group, please RSVP to Hannah Evans-Turner (hannah.evans-turner@otago.ac.nz) so we know how many people to cater for.

Is there any chance presentations can be recorded and links posted in this forum afterwards? Appreciate this may not be possible given the nature of some of the topics i.e. ethics.

I’m afraid that it is off, and we never got an answer on the recording front sorry. This is the email sent by the admin:

Subject: POSTPONED: Digital Health Group Meeting 25th August 5-7pm

Regrettably due to uncertainty around alert level changes, the inaugural Digital Health Group Meeting is postponed. A new date will follow as soon as possible.

Thank you for your interest in this event and we hope to see you all soon.

Hi Folks, sorry for not replying to these comments - I had my email notifications set to off (I joined the UK forum a while ago and had to turn them off) and hadn’t turned them back on when joining this forum. Yes, sorry (again) we have postponed this event until back in level 1 as was primarily envisioned as a face-to-face networking event. Hopefully we’ll be able to set a new date soon. We’ll be doing a zoom link and I will see if we can record the zoom and post it up (perhaps here?) for those who can’t attend live. Cheers, Chris

Hi folks, just to let you know that this meeting has been moved to Nov 24th at 5pm at the medical school in Dunedin. If you have registered with Hannah, she will send the update details shortly. There is an option to zoom in so if you’d like to join remotely, please email Hannah and let her know: hannah.evans-turner@otago.ac.nz.

Cheers, Chris

This is on tomorrow evening. It feels like it has been a long time coming, and a long time between any digital health face to face events.

Hopefully see many of you there!

I really enjoyed this event, and I was glad that it ended up being available via zoom. I am looking into applying to this Digital Health PgDip, and very interested in keeping up with Chest, and others in this area of work (especially locally, here in Dunedin).
