Who knows about this - a move to use NZ data instead of UK data for anaesthetic and surgical risk assessment:

This example shows an excellent reason why NZ can’t just follow along and use data tools from other countries in healthcare here: our population is different. nzRISK exists because Doug Campbell saw that NZers have different risks of dying from surgeries than Brits.

This also shows how data science works between use cases. Any algorithm needs to be checked and likely tweaked when it’s applied in a new scenario - even if that’s UK vs NZ, Auckland vs Christchurch, or two sides of one city.
