NHS Health Education England recently launched magpie, it’s personalised learning pilot focusing on driving digital skill confidence across the NHS.

When you sign up, magpie will ask for your details about your interests, and ask you to gauge your digital literacy on subjects to personalise your training & education options.

Here’s a screenshot of my dashboard - topics range from the basics to more intensive courses.

Find the sign-up link here: https://twitter.com/HEE_TEL/status/1232229128675438594?s=20

I signed up and I like it - do others? We could probably build something similar reasonably easily.

But how does it help health outcomes?

If there are a number of health workers who don’t use digital tools because they don’t know how (we know this - survey results about to come out), then a tool that teaches them about these tools work means that they are more likely to use them.

This ostensibly means benefits for patients and potentially better outcomes. I guess given how long that chain of logic is you could discount all education and yet we know if it is critical to developing society…

I think the opportunity this site offers is one that is less focused on compliance and more focused on interest and curiosity so hopefully this makes it more engaging.
