Microsoft kills off the enterprise social network no-one remembered it has

@alastairk, @emerging-mods, and everyone else who has been on Yammer:

Looks like you got out just in time!

And we welcome Viva Engage, combining the best of Teams and Yammer!

Is it any good? This headline about it caught my eye:

Perhaps there will be a Teamsbook soon, like a Chromebook, but a laptop that only runs Teams and all its add-ins

I thought that was called LinkedIn (without the video calls)

Believe it or not, LinkedIn actually does video calls now:

But LinkedIn is External, while anything Teams based will need to be Internal.

A superior platform would be able to do both jobs…

Teams is good if you are within a single organisation - if you work for two organisations it becomes a bit difficult and difficult to keep up with discussions, etc. and logging in and out of organisations is a pain.

Thanks for that.

Although Google is heading in this direction with ChromeOS later in the year;

I thought Microsoft was going down the virtual desktop approach.

All of which is only slightly less hideous than the metaverse and wearing a 1-2kg headset all day.

Ha, I’d only just seen it at Te Toka Tumai and it’s dead already. I’m sure there’s a theme there about us always being 10 years behind :rofl:

I too, welcome our new productivity tool overloards :jack_o_lantern:

There is apparently a new version of Teams coming this month. Big speed benefits, and Im just imagining a 10year lag to getting the upgrade…

Surely not…………………………………

Sorry about the confusing pumpkin… I’m not fluent in emoji. How about this:

:face_with_symbols_over_mouth::scream::rage:

I just noticed the amusing headline “Microsoft kills off …” I didn’t need to read the rest.
