@Diana_Siew - made the point that we need to work together (loved the “Houston we have a problem” framing) with collaboration essential (this is what we see in TMC - www.tmc.edu) between clinicians, providers, government, researchers and business.
The point being we need to work hard to build value propositions for technology in health that we can get everyone enthused about (not just us). This needs to include building new and better business and procurement models which account for our approach to planning and funding the NZ health system while understanding that we don’t just need to improve care, but also build the benefits for NZ Inc and improve the sustainability of the system.
Yes, I agree John. Technology is not going to be adopted if it does not bring value but challenges with escalating costs does need new business models. NZ’s issues are no different to that globally but the challenge is getting into other markets faster.
Collaboration is key for NZ’s success -both local and international - but this should also stretch to NZ adopting its own innovations as much as possible too. Be great to see NZ as a testbed not only for our technologies but also new business and procurement models in healthcare.
Good to see you at NZHIT meetup and thanks Scott and Talie for hosting and the invite to present.
