Epic is warning customers it will stop working with Google Cloud, CNBC reports

This is really interesting I am not sure which side to support, although Epic is probably doing the right thing:

jon - bear in mind that epic is also lobbying hard to prevent the implementation of a mandatory interoperability federal law in the US. epic is an interesting company in general - it remains privately owned by the founder, its got a super-quirky corporate culture, defined by the founder/owner. It is clearly presently fighting opening its data, and investing heavily in the secondary use of its own data. Its a bit like apple - in that it is certainly harvesting data, using it extensively internally, but presents itself as a privacy defender - when “privacy” is a code word for maintaining data for their company’s bottom line.

EPIC is also also urging Congress to establish moratoriums on face recognition.

I don’t doubt that Epic believes they have rights (I don’t think they do). At the bottom of the article they note that they don’t have a problem with Azure or AWS - just Google - so that is probably why I came down on Epics side in this instance.

Interesting events unfolding here, Health systems versus Tech giants and data accessibility, raising concerns over patient’s Privacy, often wondered it this is really the case?
