eHN Live 2020

Very excited that the first implementation of ABCpro - ePRO integrated with clinical decision support to manage symptoms of advanced breast cancer (ABC) - will start at Waikato DHB in a couple of weeks’ time. This Kiwi PROMs project has already attracted interest from Australia - huge potential across advanced cancers and other chronic conditions. Breast Cancer Foundation NZ and Cemplicity have recorded a webinar for HINZ to explain how ABCpro aims to improve quality of life, reduce unscheduled care at DHBs and potentially extend survival.

Hey Adele - are you using Cemplicity for this service - be great to see some screen shots?

Hi Jon, yes we are using Cemplicity and have also partnered with Cambio, a Swedish firm specialising in guidelines-based CDS. We’ve funded an integration of Cemplicity’s and Cambio’s tools. That integration is tailorable to any symptom suite and guidelines - applicable to other tumour streams and chronic conditions if they want to pick it up. Here’s a pic of our symptom survey:

When the patient submits their survey, a nurse is alerted if symptoms exceed agreed thresholds. Here’s what the patient response looks like in the nurse dashboard in a table format (would have a little alert symbol next to it if an alert had been triggered) - this is only one week’s data entered ;normally the nurse could see colour changes over several weeks here

A graph shows symptom changes over time (we’re still working on the look of this!)

And the nurse gets pop-up CDS for the symptom(s) that triggered the alert (customised to patient’s comorbidities and medications where appropriate). Again, we’re still just finalising the look of this as we go through user testing.

Looks good - interested in how it goes - and the feedback from the Nurses and Patients
