MidCentral is also having preliminary thoughts about this as well. I would also be interested to hear about the experience of Indici users for their experiences with a browser based voice dictation system.
What about the dictation features built into Office 356? They are surprisingly powerful, and you (probably) have already paid for them. What is needed is the workflow to make them usable in our context.
iMEDEX can have the option of outsourcing the typing up if you want so can be useful if you have overflow work that needs to go to external typists.
I’m not sure about Dragon.
Busy SMOs don’t want to have to correct their own dictation from incorrectly recognised voice to text apps, so currently still need a solution with a typist for this.
As long ago as 15-20 yrs I trailed dragon in my GP practice.
It transcribed quite well and later versions were even better (never bought the medical version) but I found it did not suit my consultation structure.
That is I tend to use summing up and the patient is encouraged to participate. I found I had to keep notes to keep the history correct and detailed.
The patient could not see the notes and could not participate.
Given I was making notes anyway I decided to go back to making them on the screen and providing patients with their own screen.
You cannot be gabbling into a microphone during the patient interview so in the end I canned it.
Sorry haven’t been on this site as much recently. @damon, BOPDHB has had a successful pilot with Dragon recently and is buying more licenses. Happy to put you in touch with the change manager running that project if you like.
