Two current consultations about collection / notification / privacy below.
1. MOJ consultation on broadening the Privacy Act’s notification rules
The Ministry of Justice is considering potential changes to the notification rules for collecting personal information under the Privacy Act 2020. The proposed changes would broaden the Act’s requirements for an individual to be notified when an agency collects their personal information indirectly through a third party.
2. OPC consultation on the use of biometrics in Aotearoa New Zealand
Organisations are increasingly collecting people’s sensitive personal information and analysing it using biometric technology. We are now seeking the views of New Zealanders on biometrics and their use in Aotearoa New Zealand in response to our consultation paper.
